Parrots
There is a wonderful place in Pineville called Parrot University, located just past the mall in Pineville Towne Market on 51. It is a rescue facility for companion parrots. The lucky birds who are there are lovingly cared for while awaiting their forever homes.
This is an amazing place to visit. There are approximately 50 birds at this site, from three inches to three feet in length. Visitors are always welcome, as it helps socialize the birds. If you are having a bad day, six birds giving you a wolf whistle will cheer you right up. Children love seeing these intelligent, interactive creatures.
They're open 7 days a week. Call 704-889-BEAK for hours. If you are a parrot owner, you can find great toys, healthy food, cages and more for your feathered family member.

I've been to the University. I wish I could take them all home but my Quaker Parrot would get very jealous!

Your baby is precious! What's his/her name?
Visit Parrot University often! It helps socialize the birds.
Have you seen the calendar for 2010? It is wonderful. All costs go to medical care for the birds.

You can buy birds here too. Some of these birds would cost over $1,000 if you were to buy them in a pet store but Parrot University will sell you the bird plus the cage for about $200. I don't know if their rates have changed but this is what I was quoted last time I was there (about a year ago) - they just want to find homes for these babies.
