Well, start with the Matthews Parks and Rec site matthewsfun.com for happenings and places. Squirrel Lake Park, Stumptown Park, Colonel Francis Beatty Park, etc.
BTW: The bike is a Limited Edition 1986 Harley FXR Liberty. It was created as a tribute to the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. HD donated a portion of each sale to the restoration! Willie G, rode this bike onto the floor of the NY Stock Exchange when HD became free-standing after their 70's financial problems during the Carter years. It is a great bike for riding the Blue Ridge in the Spring and Fall!
Cynthia, My buddy (Greg Baker) and I play a little bit of everything. Country, Folk, Americana... we do Buffett and Haggard... Reo Speedwagon and John Prine... Hoyt Axton and Ricky Nelson and Dr Hook... and more. Stop by The Bean House any Saturday night and listen in!
Hey Cynthia, as you can see from the pic we're Italian :) We'll give two can't miss recs. For the best family style Italian anywhere in the Carolinas go to Domenicos in downtown Matthews. It's on East John St. across from Vinnies Raw Bar. For the best upscale Italian- Toscana in South Park.
In that same line of thinking - it might not be a bad idea to start a group called "Day Trips" that discusses destinations close to the Matthews area...
Cynthia - I like your intented use of the site to share with your hotel guests! Its a use I had not considered. We will endeavor to keep the calendars current and good info up about the town and its restaurants and other activities. Thanks for joining us!
