Darryl Parker

I discovered Matthews sometime in 2003. It was just after my daughter was born and around the time when I was looking for an office (yes - there is a connection). I really liked the feel of the place and the warm reception I received each time I visited with the Chamber or other businesses there.

Now I run ParkerWeb.com from the second floor of the Johnson Building, above Kristophers, where I have a great view of downtown and a quick walk to some of my favorite places. My family and I frequent many of the businesses and restaurants in town. We work and play in Matthews and love it.

iMatthews came about because I wanted to be deeply connected to this community. I realized even in such a small area, how difficult it can be to get to know your neighbor because of busy schedules and the pace of life in general. I wanted to move some of the time that could be spent around the pot-bellied stove at Renfrows over to the web so we could spend the time at 5am (like I do) and still have a meaningful experience. I think its working.

I volunteer a lot in the community and I'd like to encourage each of you to do so. Even with eating at local restaurants, running a local business, and attending a variety of events, it has been volunteering and giving back to the community that has made Matthews home.
